Forza Horizon 5 Series 10 Update

18 July 2022- Alan Walsh
Forza and Extreme E, the sport for purpose electric off-road racing series, are teaming up for Series 10 of Horizon Mexico.

You’re invited to get behind the wheel of the fully-electric Extreme E ODYSSEY 21 e-SUV in Forza Horizon 5 and experience four weeks of unmissable Extreme E racing action on the Festival Playlist from July 21 through August 17. Read on for more details!

Game Fixes and Release Notes

Available to download on Xbox, Windows, and Steam from July 19, the Series 10 Update includes access to the Forza Horizon 5: Hot Wheels expansion, new Extreme E content and numerous bug fixes and changes to improve your gameplay experience.

Four Extreme E off-road race cars find a hidden "Battery" collectible in a Mexican seaside town at dusk.

The issues which have received fixes include:

  • Players could lose credits if their Auction House bid failed.
  • Horizon Tour autocompleting itself in the Festival Playlist.
  • TAA on PC causing wheels to appear blurry or transparent.
  • Certain cars feeling more unstable to drive when using simulated steering after a physics change in Series 9.
  • Inability to challenge players to head-to-head races in The Eliminator if they were using the Telemetry overlay.
  • Players could timeout when joining an EventLab event in co-op.
  • Players could be returned to Freeroam during Horizon Open.

Series 10 also introduces a new save recovery system. With this update installed, if loss of save-game data is detected, players will see a pop-up message offering to restore a previous backup. Players will not be able to recover lost saves from prior to Series 10 with this new system.

Several Extreme E race cars drive by a purple Extreme E billboard in Mexico, indicating a nearby Extreme E Seasonal Championship.

For the full list of fixes and improvements coming in Series 10 check out our release notes. We continue to listen closely to your Forza Horizon 5 feedback as we introduce new fixes with each game update. Here’s where you can stay up to date on the issues that we’re currently investigating.

Forza x Extreme E

Each season of the Festival Playlist in Series 10 is inspired by the real-world Extreme E race calendar with new challenges and Seasonal Championships taking drivers to different X Prix locations in Mexico every week where they can push the ODYSSEY 21 to its limit in Dirt and Cross Country races.

In the Summer “Island X Prix” season, you’ll be racing along the east coast by Playa Azul; Autumn brings the “Energy X Prix” to the city of Guanajuato; Winter accelerates the action to the “Copper X Prix” Canyon; and finally, the competition heats up for the Spring finale as competitors race through the Baja “Desert X Prix” in Dunas Blancas.

Four Extreme E off-road race cars parked by rocks take in a stunning view of Mexico's farmland and surrounding mountains at sunset.

Check back regularly to complete new events and challenges where you can unlock unique variants of the ODYSSEY 21 that represent each team competing in the 2022 Extreme E Championship and gear up for the off-road trails ahead with Extreme E race suits. Plus, look out for new Extreme E themed collectibles, billboards and race dressing as part of Forza Horizon 5’s Evolving World.

Extreme E ODYSSEY 21 e-SUV

The ODYSSEY 21 e-SUV is a bespoke, purpose-built vehicle for Extreme E that’s used by all the participating teams. Each vehicle, which weights 1,780 kilograms, contains a common package of standardized parts manufactured by Spark Racing Technology, a battery produced by Williams Advanced Engineering, a set of ultra-high-performance Continental CrossContact tires, and a niobium chassis by CBMM.

Three Extreme E off-road race cars approach historic ruins deep in the Mexican jungle.

The powertrain of this 2.3-metre-wide e-SUV is designed for sprint races and the 470kW maximum power output of the battery – which equates to around 550bhp – is built to withstand the extreme temperatures, conditions and terrains of Extreme E. For each X Prix race on the calendar, the cars are transported across the world on the St. Helena vessel, which is Extreme E’s floating base of operations that reduces the environmental impact of this global race series.

Drive the Extreme E ODYSSEY 21 e-SUV in Forza Horizon 5 from July 21 and don’t forget to check back on the Festival Playlist every week in Series 10 where you can unlock unique team variants:

The coming of the Porsche 917 was driven by rules modifications to slow speeds of the Group 6 Prototypes. The result was a car that still holds the fastest lap at the Circuit de Sarthe in the configuration they ran in 1971. The lessons that influenced the 917 were multifold, including weight savings, aerodynamics, downforce, and one of the only true Boxer 12s in existence. What you see here is the unglamorously named “Pink Pig” which was a test bed for low-drag and aerodynamic concepts. It qualified seventh for its only race at Le Mans in 1971 but crashed during the race when its brakes failed. It currently lives in its butcher’s cut livery at Porsche’s Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen Museum, but you can experience its power and glory today in Forza.

1995 Porsche 911 Carrera 2 by Gunther Werks

Before building this custom car, Guntherwerks was known primarily as a manufacturer of after-market wheels and other parts for luxury vehicles. This rebuilt Porsche 911 Carerra 2, also known as the 400R, represents their first custom car build. 25 of these performance vehicles were built, making them incredibly rare. Guntherwerks imagined what a GT3 RS version of the 993 could look like when they designed the 400R. The goal in the Rothsport-built engine and lightweight body were performance above all, which is unusual in the world of custom luxury cars, which normally emphasize comfort over speed.

The custom restoration work for which Emory Motorsports is known is unparalleled, and that’s nowhere clearer than in their Porsche 356C Outlaw. Every Outlaw that is produced by Emory is custom in its components and styling, but they all breathe fire through the proprietary Emory-Rothsport Outlaw-4 engine, plus a 911 suspension system. All of that layered on to what is already a vintage car lover’s dream in the 356 C makes this the ultimate package.

1990 Porsche 911 Reimagined by Singer - DLS

Earn 20 PTS during the Spring “Hot” Season on the Series 10 Festival Playlist. Available from Aug. 11 – Aug. 17.

What does it look like to take a vintage design 911 and reimagine it as the ultimate air-cooled Porsche? It looks like the DLS from Singer – the Dynamics and Lightweighting Study – one of the most sought-after 911s in existence. Singer, the automotive restoration group headed up by Rob Dickinson and based in Los Angeles, has developed a signature style that’s all about the smallest of details, as summed up by their slogan “Everything is important.” Those details make all the difference – a carbon fiber body, plus advanced 4-liter air-cooled engine that spins past 9000 rpm, codeveloped with Formula 1 tech courtesy of Williams Engineering. Williams is also responsible for developing the suspension and the reworked aerodynamics. The whole thing also received technical input from the mind behind the GT3 engine, Hans Mezger. The result of all the resources and detail work that went into creating the DLS is a production run of 75 cars, worth 1.8 million dollars each.
