Race with IndyCar and Compete in the Champions Cup

16 June 2025- Turn 10 Studios
Experience intense open-wheel racing in IndyCars and enter the Champions Cup, a free extension to Career mode.

First and foremost, thank you for celebrating 20 Years of Forza Motorsport with us. Our 20th Anniversary milestone was as much about you as it is our games. We made that update because we wanted to reignite the fun and excitement from the memories you have racing and drifting alongside your friends at Fujimi Kaido in Forza Motorsport 3 and 4.

Over the past 20 years, so many of you have come together and created lasting friendships through Forza Motorsport. That’s why we introduced Meetups, a place for you to celebrate car culture and motorsports, with the community. We hope you continue to participate in Meetups and forge new friendships with players who are just as passionate about cars and racing as you are.

With all of that said, let’s take a look at the new content and features that you will experience with Forza Motorsport Update 21, which introduces the latest generation of IndyCars to the Showroom, a new, permanent Career called the Champions Cup, and sees the return of previously released Featured Tours and reward cars starting July 3.

Show off your car building skills in Open Division Rivals, join Top Speed and Cycled Ovals Meetups, and re-order the starting positions of competitors with Manual Grid Ordering in Private Multiplayer.

With Update 21, both the 2025 Chevrolet IndyCar and 2025 Honda IndyCar are being added to the Showroom and can be acquired with in-game credits. These new-to-Motorsport, open-wheel racers will also be discounted through July 2, 2025.

Between IndyCar, the Champions Cup in Career, and other new features, there’s a lot to check out. We’ve broken this blog down into categories to help you find the details that are most important to you. Select any of the topics below to quickly jump to that section:

Game Improvements and Release Notes

Forza Motorsport Update 21 rolls out for download starting Monday, June 16 on Xbox Series X|S and PC via the Microsoft Store and Steam. Multiplayer and Rivals events will be refreshed Wednesday, June 18 starting at 5:00 PM PT (12:00 AM UTC on Thursday, June 19).

Below is an overview of the changes and improvements included with Update 21:

  • Featured Multiplayer has been reorganized, incorporating player feedback, with the goal of providing players with even more event variety. Click here for a rundown of these changes.

  • We’ve implemented BoP Spec changes to the Forza GT2, Forza GT3, Forza Touring Car, and Forza Proto-H divisions with help from participants in the Forza Insiders Program. See the release notes for an overview of the adjustments that have been made.

  • The Challenge Hub menu has been reorganized to more effectively communicate where rewards can be earned as well as the type of rewards available to unlock.

  • We’ve fixed an issue for players using the Fanatec DD2 racing wheel that would assign the peripheral an incorrect mapping profile.

  • All Builders Cup Tours are now immediately unlocked, which means you no longer need to complete the Modern Tour to access the 3 other Builders Cup Tours. In addition, select Builders Cup Series have been updated to feature additional eligible cars and post-launch tracks. A detailed overview of these changes has been included in the release notes.

  • There are also numerous fixes to AI behavior and competitiveness in single-player racing.

Check out the Update 21 release notes on our Forza Support site for a full overview of the fixes, improvements and other changes that are included with this release.

Compete with IndyCar in Intense Open-Wheel Racing

IndyCar has returned to Forza Motorsport! Get behind the wheel of the latest generation of IndyCars and experience intense open-wheel racing.

Go to the Showroom and add the new-to-Motorsport 2025 Chevrolet IndyCar and 2025 Honda IndyCar to your garage today. Both cars will permanently be available in the game using Credits, and you can even get them discounted until July 2, 2025.

Jump into the all-new IndyCar Series in Featured Multiplayer or check out the IndyCar Series in the Thunder Tour in the new Champions Cup Career! Step into the world of high-speed excitement in these premier open-wheel racing series, where precision, power, and passion collide on the track.

The IndyCar Series in Featured Multiplayer will cycle between oval track layouts and GP/road layouts, with the appropriate aero parts being automatically swapped depending on the track type.

In addition, a new ‘Spec Division – IndyCar' Rivals event has been added to the Spec Division Rivals category where you can attempt to set your fastest lap times at the world-famous Brickyard circuit at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Introducing Champions Cup, Your New Racing Career

New permanent racecar-focused Tours have been added to Career mode in the form of the Champions Cup, the new home of competition for single-player racing.

Dive into the world of Motorsport in a variety of modern and historical racecars. Immerse yourself in multiple disciplines of events inspired by real world racing from one-make series to endurance spectacles. Prove your skills on the track to unlock Invitationals and complete them to earn some of the most highly coveted reward cars that have been added to the game since its release.

Here’s a closer look at the Tours and Invitationals featured in the Champions Cup:

One-Make Tour

Start your journey in the Champions Cup with the One-Make Tour. Experience progressively faster and more expensive one-make series in events focused on driver skill and spec car mastery. These include Ginetta Juniors, MX-5 Cup, KTM X-Bow GT4, 488 Challenge and Lamborghini Challenge.

Complete all five series in the One-Make Tour to get the 1979 BMW #6 BMW Motorsport M1 Procar. You’ll also receive an invitation to participate in the Early BMW Challenge Series where you can obtain the epic 2023 BMW #96 Turner Motorsport M4 GT3.

Touring World Tour

Experience Touring Car racing with the second Tour of the Champions Cup. Challenge yourself across three regional series, each consisting of 8 races in American Touring Car, Eastern Touring Car, and European Touring Car.

Showcase your skills across this trio of series and you will receive the 1989 Audi #4 Audi 90 quattro IMSA GTO added to your garage.

You’ll also be invited to the Retro GT Invitational Series where you can unlock another reward car: the iconic 1998 Nissan #23 Pennzoil NISMO Skyline GT-R.

Thunder Tour

The V8 has always been synonymous with Motorsport – and power and speed are at the heart of the Thunder Tour.

Master four unique disciplines of competition that epitomize the V8 racing experience: Australian Supercars, Forza T/A, Modern NASCAR, and IndyCar.

In the Forza T/A Series, we’ve also included the 2014 Dodge #93 SRT Motorsports Viper GTS-R alongside the four Forza T/A cars in the Forza Motorsport Car Pass. This is to ensure all players, even those who don’t own any of the DLC cars, can complete these events.

Prove your abilities on the track and you will be challenged to participate in the Historic Endurance Invitational Series. Race in the 1966 Ford #2 GT40 MkII Le Mans reward car to obtain another car to add to your collection, the classic 1988 Chevrolet #77 Beretta Trans Am.

Single Seat Tour

Open wheel racing is a storied legacy of motorsports. Experience it in the Single Seat Tour of the Champions Cup.

Single seater cars are a true test of competitive aptitude where every step on the ladder takes drivers to the ultimate culmination of open-wheel mastery.

Complete Grand Prix Rivals, Formula 60s, and Formula 70s, and get the 1939 Auto Union Type D, alongside an invite to the Birth of Grand Prix Invitational Series where you can win the open-wheel 1977 Renault #15 Equipe Renault Elf R.S. 01.

Endurance Tour

The Endurance Tour is the absolute pinnacle of the Champions Cup.

Strap in for longer races with ultra-competitive GT racecars and cutting-edge prototype hypercars.

Test your racing skills, as well as your tire and fuel strategy across American GT3, Global GTE, Daytona Prototype, European LMP2, Global Endurance, and American LMDh.

Complete all six series to join the final stage of Champions Cup, the GPT Endurance Invitational Series, where you can race in the legendary 1991 Mazda #55 Mazda 787B and compete to unlock another reward car of the same stature: the 1988 Nissan #24 International R88C.

Invitationals

Completion of each Tour in the Champions Cup unlocks an Invitational. These one-off series highlight brilliant moments in motorsport and feature their own reward cars.

Here’s a summary of all the reward cars you can get by playing the Champions Cup:

Champions Cup is a free extension to the Career mode, and all five of its Tours as well as their unlockable Invitational events will always be available for you to play, so you can complete them at your own pace.

To make the Champions Cup more accessible to all players, we have adjusted the in-game pricing for most racecars. Of the cars affected, 162 (87%) of them saw a decrease in their price. This means most racecars will now be more affordable to purchase from the Showroom. A full breakdown of all car pricing adjustments can be seen in the release notes.

Replay Your Favorite Featured Tours

Previous Featured Tours and reward cars make their return in Update 21, starting on July 3 with the Road to Race Tour, with an additional Tour coming back to the game every month. This includes the Track Toys Tour on August 7, followed by the Ringer Tour on September 4, and so on.

Featured Tours will be unlocked in their entirety, which means all series within a Tour will be available as soon as it is active. Upon their return, each Tour and any associated rewards will be permanently available for all players to enjoy.

Whether you’re replaying your favorite Featured Tour or are playing it for the very first time, all returning Tours will appear within the Featured tab in Career.

Additionally, all previous Open Class Tour reward cars will be earnable by completing challenges in the Challenge Hub. These new challenges will be introduced on the same monthly cadence as the returning Featured Tours and will be permanently available in the Featured tab within Challenge Hub.

Build Your Cars in the Expanded Open Tour

With Update 21, the Open Class Tour has been expanded to feature every class in the game! This means you can enjoy racing the slower cars in E Class and D Class all the way to the fastest and most competitive cars in P Class and X Class!

Enjoy the flexibility to tune and upgrade the cars you love to race with minimal restrictions.

Complete every series of the Open Class Tour and you will receive the 2024 Nissan Z NISMO.

This version of the Open Class Tour will always be available to enter! Check it out in Career mode and ensure you have all your favorite cars upgraded so you can bring them into each series.

Manual Grid Ordering can be enabled via the Private Multiplayer Event Setup menu in the ‘Rules’ section by switching ‘Adjust grid before race’ to ‘ON’.

Do you like going fast? This is the perfect Meetup for you! This Meetup takes drivers all around the globe onto tracks that allow even the fastest cars to be pushed to their absolute limit.

Play Your Favorite Featured Multiplayer Series

In Update 21, Featured Multiplayer has been reorganized, incorporating player feedback, with the goal of providing players with even more event variety.

Due to the changes outlined below, some of the Series that were scheduled to be active between June 12 through June 19 may no longer be available after downloading the update, however some of these events, such as Week 7 of the 20th Anniversary Series will re-appear on June 19 at the normal weekly schedule change. Read on for further information.

Here's an outline of the changes made for each category of events in Featured Multiplayer, as well as an overview of the series rotation schedule and race lengths to expect within each series.

Featured

The ‘Featured’ category has been updated to focus on some of our most popular racing series, putting them front and center for all players to easily jump into, including the new IndyCar Series!

Spec Events

The ‘Spec Events’ category will now include a number of series, cycling between a rotation of one-make staples (such as MX-5 Cup, Ginetta Juniors, Formula Mazda, etc.) as well as historical spec division series.

Semi-Open Events

A new ‘Semi-Open Events’ category has been added and focuses on events that challenge drivers to build and race their very own project car within a loose set of cycled car restrictions and themes.

This includes a series that some players may recognize from previous Forza Motorsport titles – the Cycled Production Series! This series will feature a new Production Division each day, each with its own Max PI restriction.

Additionally, this category will feature a rotating assortment of multi-class series, as well as other unique car building-focused events, such as the Mid-Engine Series, a new AWD series, 6 Cylinder Series, and more!

Open Events

Finally, one of our top community requests – all Open Class Series have been made permanently available in the ‘Open Events’ category. Enjoy!
